At Lo-Fatt- Chow, we realize that healthy eating is not so easy and can be even more difficult when you and your family wish to dine out. Many families dine out 3-4 times a week because of hectic schedules. Many restaurants unfortunately too often serve a “super-sized” portion, few fresh vegetables, loads of trans/saturated fats, and just way too much sodium. Lo-Fatt-Chow has addressed all of these issues and more because we are consumers too and they are a concern to us as well. Hey, don’t ask us for table salt, we don’t have any.

You will find our delectable dishes along with their sauces, to be very fresh and light. We do not freeze or pre-cook our dishes. We are not a fast food restaurant and we don’t intend to be. At Lo-Fatt Chow, we have a "No Grease Allowed" attitude and our customers love us for this policy. Our vegetables are fresh and crisp, just the way you should expect them with all their natural fibers and nutrients intact. We purchase many of our vegetables from local farmers whom we support.

Many of our customers are either trimming their waistlines, watching their blood pressure, or are simply just curious and in the mood for something new. At Lo-Fatt-Chow, we promise you a menu like no other. We offer such dishes as sumptuous homemade dumplings to fat-free farm raised Python. Whatever dish you choose, our stores wish you have only great experiences with us.

At Lo-Fatt-Chow, we also realize how important vegetarian choices are to our customers. As you will see, we have included vegetarian choices under all our our menu banners.

MSG(Monosodium Glutamate), THE FACTS

Here is a little lesson on MSG:
This nasty stuff is in more foods than you know. It has several names and can be found in many foods on your grocers shelf. Even though MSG has no taste, it is made from chemicals that enhance the flavor of what you are eating. It’s effect on the brain heightens a persons sense of taste and put on the worst cook’s food, it will taste better.
Even though people equate MSG with Chinese restaurants, it’s used everywhere. Chinese food however is cooked with a chicken base and to our knowledge, there is not a company in North America that produces a chicken broth without MSG.
At Lo-Fatt-Chow, we make our very own natural broth even though it is very time consuming. Unfortunately, most restaurants in America don’t bother. Be careful when you see a menu that reads "No added MSG" No, they don’t add MSG because it’s already put in by their supplier, they don’t tell you the real story. MSG also tells you that you are full. This is why at a buffet, they use excessive MSG and they are always at your table filling your water glass, they want you out of there !
Many people have severe allergies to MSG and our commitment is not to use it. Period

PEANUT OIL

Many Chinese restaurants use peanut oil.
Why? Because it is a very thick oil and you are able to cook many dishes without adding more oil. Now this is a great way to save money and bring up your profit margins but no thanks, at least at Lo-Fatt-Chow. Everyone has tasted I’m sure, greasy Chinese food. Everyone has smelled it walking by or inside a Chinese restaurant. This is peanut oil that you can smell.
The problem with cooking several dishes without having to wash the wok very often is that you get cross-contamination and we all know of the different kinds of allergies out there.
We do not use peanut oil in our restaurants and we are happy to tell you, we are a peanut allergy safe environment. Our oils contain no trans-fat, cholesterol, sodium, and zero carbs. Expensive Yes ! Worth it ? You betcha !

At Lo-Fatt-Chow, we educate children and adults the best way we can, not only in our restaurants, but also in health forums at local medical facilities. We are very aware of peanut allergies especially in children who are too young to understand. However, it is ultimately up to the parents to insure that their children are safe.
Lo-Fatt-Chow does have nut dishes but there is no way that they are ever cooked in a wok. They are sprinkled on after the dish is made.
Because we use very thin oil , our woks are washed between each and every entrée cooked. When someone comes in and picks up an order, please please let us know any allergies.This is crucial. Most people are not aware that EGG ROLLS CONTAIN PEANUT BUTTER. This can be very dangerous to someone who has a nut allergy. Please ask your server if in doubt

SPECIAL SAUCES

We are continually researching and developing our sauces to address other health issues.
We are a chosen restaurant to participate in the Hunterdon Medical Centres“Lighten Up” program which is aimed to offer consumers healthier choices for eating and awareness.
This program is sponsored by the Hunterdon County Board of Health and we are very proud to be a part of this wonderful program. We now offer a delicious diabetic sauce, gluten-free sauce, and a low carb sauce that was designed for the customer who wishes to complement their weight management concerns.
Unlike many restaurants, our dishes do not contain high fructose corn syrup which is a prime culprit for obesity which can cause diabeties..Unfortunately, too many manufacturers are using it.
We also offer most Chinese traditional dishes for diabetics using Splenda rather than sugar. Please inquire.
